āœ” Bakhtiari saddle bagsĀ were originallyĀ made to put on the back of horses or camels. They are known to have three different weaving techniques (carpet, kilim and embroidery) together. It givesĀ oneĀ rug three different textures, which is a quite rare feature.Ā 

In this example, the saddle bagĀ has been flattened and converted into aĀ rug. Hand made almost SIX DECADES AGO, this BakhtiariĀ rug boasts meticulously woven geometric detailsĀ throughout, beautifully representing the tribal Bakhtiari style. These rugs give a character to any space either as a small runner or a wall hanging.
