Bakhtiari Khorjin Saddle Bag • Handmade Oriental Carpet Wall Hanging • 3x6 Vintage Persian Rug for Living Room, Bedroom, Kitchen, Hallway & Study

✔  Handwoven in the 1940s by Bakhtiari tribal weavers of northwest Persia, this striking Khorjin (saddle bag) rug exemplifies the region’s masterful use of mixed techniques—flatweave, pile, and soumak—within a single piece. Originally created to adorn pack animals, it combines function with artistry, yielding a rare three-dimensional texture.

This example features a deeply saturated palette of crimson, indigo, orange, and ivory with graphic tribal medallions and striped ends that balance geometry with rhythm. The piece has since been flattened and converted into a small runner rug, ideal for adding a layer of cultural depth to modern interiors while preserving its nomadic heritage.
